Incorrect wheel bolts may have been installed on certain 2026 Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID.4 vehicles, allowing a wheel to detach while driving. This can cause a crash.

Certain 2026 Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID.4 vehicles equipped with incorrect wheel bolts installed during manufacturing. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov to confirm if your vehicle is affected.

You're affected if you own a 2026 Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, or ID.4. Check whether your vehicle's VIN is on the recall list at NHTSA.gov (searchable as of December 5, 2025). An owner notification letter was mailed December 12, 2025.

Do not drive your vehicle until it has been inspected and repaired. Contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 to schedule a dealer appointment. Dealers will inspect and replace the wheel bolts at no charge. Reference recall number 44BW.
