Vive Health Recalls Adult Portable Bed Rails Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Entrapment and Asphyxiation; Two Deaths Reported

Vive Health is recalling three models of adult portable bed rails because users can become trapped between the rail and the mattress, creating a serious risk of death by asphyxiation. Two deaths have already been reported.

What is recalled
Vive Health Compact Bed Rail (model LVA2009SLV), Vive Health Bed Rail Collection V (model LVA2097SLV), and Vive Health Bed Rail model LVA1024 purchased on or before August 21, 2023. All three are silver or white metal tubing rails with a black foam rubber grip handle. Note: some units may have no model number or brand label printed on them.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own any of these Vive Health bed rails: • Model LVA2009SLV (Compact Bed Rail) • Model LVA2097SLV (Bed Rail Collection V) • Model LVA1024 purchased on or before August 21, 2023 Check the label on the rail for a model number, but be aware some units have no label at all. If you're unsure of your model or purchase date, treat the rail as recalled and contact Vive Health to confirm.
What to do right now
Stop using these bed rails immediately. Then: (1) Write "RECALLED" in permanent marker on both the upper and lower portions of the rail. (2) Take a photo of the marked rail with a piece of paper showing the buyer's name. (3) Email that photo to recalls@vivehealth.com to request your full refund. (4) Once confirmed, dispose of the rail following your local waste disposal rules. The hazard
When the recalled bed rails are attached to a bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress. This poses a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation.
