School Specialty Recalls Tip Restraint Kits Included in Childcraft Furniture Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Tip-Over Hazard

School Specialty is recalling plastic tip restraint kits (furniture straps) included with Childcraft furniture because the plastic brackets can break or degrade, removing the protection against tip-overs. If the strap fails, the furniture can fall and seriously injure or kill a child.

What is recalled
Plastic tip restraint kits (also called furniture straps) packaged inside boxes of Childcraft furniture sold by School Specialty. Each kit contains two white plastic brackets or mounts, a white plastic cable zip tie, two pairs of screws, and two drywall anchors. The item number for the specific furniture models included in this recall is printed on a label on the bottom of the furniture.
Am I affected
You are affected if you purchased Childcraft furniture from School Specialty and found a plastic tip restraint kit inside the box. Check the label on the bottom of your furniture for the item number and compare it against the list of affected item numbers published at https://help.schoolspecialty.com/s/article/Childcraft-Furniture-Tip-Restraint-Kit-Recall. If the kit you installed has two white plastic brackets, a plastic cable zip tie, screws, and drywall anchors, it is the recalled kit.
What to do right now
Stop using the recalled plastic tip restraints immediately and keep children away from any furniture secured with them. Contact School Specialty for a free replacement kit made of stainless steel.
