Galanz Americas Recalls Retro Refrigerators Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Fire and Burn Hazards; One Death Reported

Galanz is recalling certain retro-style refrigerators because their internal electrical components can short circuit and catch fire, posing a serious risk of injury or death. One death has already been reported.

What is recalled
Galanz retro-style top-freezer refrigerators, 7.6 cu. ft. capacity, sold in black, blue, red, and white. Affected model numbers: BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, and GLR76TWEER. Only units with date codes from December 2018 through December 2020 (format YYYYMM) are included. The model number and date code appear on a white label in the upper left corner on the back of the unit.
Am I affected
You are affected if you own a Galanz retro-style refrigerator with one of these model numbers: BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, or GLR76TWEER, AND the date code on the white label on the back reads between 201812 and 202012. Check the upper left corner on the back of the unit for both the model number and the date code.
