Ford Escape & Lincoln Corsair PHEV Battery Recall
2025 FORD ESCAPE PHEV: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY
Updated February 17, 2026
Ford is recalling certain 2022-2026 Ford Escape and 2023-2026 Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid vehicles because a defect in one or more high-voltage battery cells can cause an internal short circuit. This can lead to a sudden loss of drive power, raising the risk of a crash, or a battery fire.
Is the Ford Motor Company recalled? Yes. This product was recalled by NHTSA on February 17, 2026. Details below.
What is recalled
Certain 2022-2026 Ford Escape plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and 2023-2026 Lincoln Corsair PHEVs. Ford's recall number is 25SC4 (expanding previous recalls 24V954 and 25V489). You can check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at NHTSA.gov, where affected VINs became searchable on February 18, 2026.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 Ford Escape PHEV, or a 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 Lincoln Corsair PHEV. Look up your 17-character VIN (found on your dashboard or driver's door jamb) at NHTSA.gov to confirm your vehicle is included.
What to do right now
While the permanent repair is still being developed, take these steps right now: set your vehicle to "Auto EV" mode only, and charge the battery to no more than 80% capacity. Do not charge to full. Ford mailed interim safety notices on February 26, 2026. Once a final repair is ready, Ford will send a second letter with instructions. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information.
