2025 FORD ESCAPE PHEV: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY

Ford is recalling certain 2022 to 2026 Ford Escape and 2023 to 2026 Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid vehicles because a defect in one or more high-voltage battery cells can cause an internal short circuit and battery failure. Battery failure can cut drive power suddenly, raising the risk of a crash, and can also cause a fire.

What is recalled
Certain 2022 to 2026 Ford Escape plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles and certain 2023 to 2026 Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid vehicles. Ford's recall number is 25SC4 (which expands previous recalls 24V954 and 25V489). You can check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at NHTSA.gov to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.

What to do right now
Until your vehicle is fixed, switch to "Auto EV" mode only and limit the maximum battery charge as instructed in the interim letter Ford mailed on February 26, 2026. Then take your vehicle to a Ford dealer for a free software update to the battery energy control module (BECM) and hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM).
