ELENKER portable adult bed rails in three sizes have been recalled because users can become trapped between the rail and the mattress, a risk of death by asphyxiation. The rails also fail to carry required hazard warning labels and do not meet the mandatory federal safety standard for adult portable bed rails.

What is recalled
ELENKER-branded collapsible, portable adult bed rails (silver, sold with a strap) in three models, sold on Amazon by Fuzhou Shiahaha Cultural Industry Development: • Model HFK-5115 (SKU K90002C1), approx. 37.8 in. wide × 16.3 in. high • Model HFK-5116 (SKU K90001C1), approx. 28.5 in. wide × 16.3 in. high • Model HFK-5124 (SKU K90003C1), approx. 48.6 in. wide × 16.3 in. high The SKU number is printed on the product packaging.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a silver ELENKER portable bed rail with any of these SKUs printed on the packaging: K90002C1 (model HFK-5115), K90001C1 (model HFK-5116), or K90003C1 (model HFK-5124). Check the label on the box or packaging for the SKU number.
What to do right now
Stop using the bed rails immediately. Then contact Fuzhou Shiahaha Cultural Industry Development for a full refund, you'll be asked to write "RECALL" in permanent marker on the rails before disposing of them following your local waste-disposal rules. The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails because when the bed rails are attached to a bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress, posing a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation. In addition, the bed rails do not bear the required hazard warning labels.
