BMW iX i7 i4 High-Voltage Battery Recall
2025 BMW IX: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY

BMW is recalling certain iX, i7, and i4 electric vehicles because the high-voltage battery cell modules may have been assembled incorrectly. A faulty module can cut drive power without warning or start a fire, both of which raise the risk of a crash.

What is recalled
BMW of North America electric vehicles across these model years and lines: 2022 to 2025 BMW iX, 2023 to 2024 BMW i7, and 2022 to 2023 BMW i4. The issue is in the high-voltage battery cell modules, which may not have been properly assembled at the factory.
Am I affected
You're affected if you own a 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 BMW iX; a 2023 or 2024 BMW i7; or a 2022 or 2023 BMW i4. Check your vehicle's model year and nameplate. BMW will also send owner notification letters, so watch your mail. If you're unsure, confirm your vehicle identification number (VIN) with your BMW dealer or at the NHTSA recall lookup at nhtsa.gov.
What to do right now
Take your vehicle to a BMW dealer for a free replacement of the affected high-voltage battery cell modules. The full remedy is anticipated to be available by December 31, 2025. BMW mailed an interim safety-risk notification letter on September 11, 2025, and will send a second notice when the repair is ready. In the meantime, contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 with any questions.
